This Data Protection Notice (“Notice”) provides information on how Singapore Life Ltd. and/or Navigator Investment Services Limited (“GROW”), referred to collectively or singly as "Singlife" as the context requires, manage your personal data under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”).
Personal data refers to data that can identify you on its own or when used in combination with other data. These may be data provided to us by you or other parties through your(/their) interactions with us. These may also include existing data in our records or data to be collected in the future.
We recognise the importance of the personal data you have entrusted to us and are committed to managing, protecting, and processing your personal data in accordance with the PDPA.
In this Notice, we explain how we collect, use, disclose and/or process your personal data so that you can make an informed decision before providing us with any personal data.
We will collect your personal data as relevant and permitted by law. We will notify you of the purposes for which your personal data may be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed. We will also seek your consent for the collection, use, disclosure and/or processing of your personal data for the intended purposes, unless an exception under the law permits us to do so without your consent.
Unless the context otherwise requires, all capitalized words in this Notice have the meanings given to them when they first appear in that form; headings are included for easy reference only and do not affect the interpretation or construction of this Notice; the singular includes the plural; and the masculine includes the feminine and neuter genders.
We may collect personal data about you, as relevant and allowed by law when (but not limited to):
• You use our services or enter into transactions with us (or express interest in doing so);
• You apply for any Singlife product, account or service;
• You submit an enquiry on any Singlife product, account or service;
• You participate in any Singlife owned/co-owned campaign, promotion, event, roadshow, survey, virtual meeting or webinar;
• You visit our website, social media pages or premises (including but not limited to our Customer Service Centre);
• You subscribe to receive our publications, reports or research;
• You report an issue or make a complaint via an online form, call, email or message;
• You interact with our employee, representative, agent or service provider (for example, via telephone calls, letters, face-to-face meetings, digital platforms (including social media platforms), surveys, workshops or emails);
• Your images/biometric identifiers are captured via CCTV or biometric capture devices when you are within our premises or use our services;
• Your images are captured in photographs or videos taken by us when you attend events organized by us;
• Your personal data is required by any legal or regulatory authority to comply with laws and regulations, facilitate law enforcement or assist in any investigations or audit; or
• You apply for a role with Singlife or Singlife related group of companies.
Personal data we collect may include:
• Identification data – information that identifies you, for example, name, national identification number, passport number, tax identification number, date of birth, gender, login credentials, photographs, CCTV or video recordings;
• Contact data – information to communicate with you, for example, residential address, mailing address, mobile number, email address;
• Financial data - your account and transaction information, or information that identifies your financial position, background, status or history as necessary to provide relevant products and services, for example, income, assets, liabilities, tax information, bank account details, credit/debit card information, source of funds, transaction or payment history;
• Professional data - information about your education or professional background;
• Policy data - information about your policies held with us, for example, policy number, premiums or benefits payable, investment holdings;
• Health data – information relating to your health, for example, medical history, diagnosis, medical examination results or treatment history;
• Personal relationship data – information about associations or close connections between individuals or entities that can determine your identity, for example, family or employer relationships;
• Related party data – information about persons related to you or your policy or account, for example, family member, beneficiary, joint policy holder, life assured, beneficial owner, payor;
• Communications data - information relating to you contained in voice, messages, email and other communications we have with you, for example, service requests, enquiries or complaints;
• Criminal convictions, proceedings or allegations data – information about criminal convictions or related information that we identify in relation to our financial crime prevention obligations, for example, details about any criminal convictions or related information including details of offences or alleged offences or convictions;
• Geo-location data - information that provides or contains a device’s location, for example, your internet protocol (IP) address or your cookies identifier;
• Behavioural data - analytics information that describes your behavioural characteristics relating to your use of our products and services, for example, usual transactional activities, browsing behaviour on our websites and how you interact as a user of our products and services, or those provided by third-party organisations, such as our advertising partners or social media platform providers;
• Other data enabling us to provide our products and services – any other information that enables us to provide our products and services to you, for example, previous insurance and claims experience, employment information, lifestyle or social circumstances, employment information.
We collect, use, disclose and process your personal data to carry out our business and administer and manage your relationship, covers, policies or accounts with Singlife.
Our purposes for doing so depend on the circumstances at hand and may not be fully listed here. However, we will notify you of the purposes when we ask for your consent, unless we are allowed to collect, use, disclose and process your personal data without your consent under the PDPA or other laws. Some of these purposes may continue to apply after your relationship, cover, policy and/or account with Singlife has ended or is no longer in force or active.
We may process your personal data for the following purposes ("Purposes"):
Providing products and services and managing customer relationships
• Administration of your cover, policy or account including but not limited to:
- processing your application;
- underwriting of the risk proposed;
- requesting and collecting premiums or making any payments to or recoveries from you in connection with your cover, policy or account;
- providing information about your cover, policy or account;
- making changes or updates to your cover, policy or account;
- reviewing, renewing or reinstating your cover, policy or account;
- carrying out your instructions or responding to your enquiries;
- authenticating, assessing, processing and settling your claim(s) made under the cover/policy;
- maintenance of your account;
- performing or updating transactions on your account; and
- carrying out your instructions or responding to your enquiries;
• Processing or assisting in the processing of your payment transactions, including but not limited to facilitating the drawdown and transfer of your funds to third parties;
• Dealing in any matters relating to your cover, policy or account including the mailing of correspondence and other documents to you which may disclose certain personal data about you on the envelopes/mail packages;
• Managing your relationship with Singlife and Singlife related group of companies;
• Managing and facilitating your relationship with your authorised intermediary(ies), including your financial adviser and representative(s);
• Compiling statistics or conducting surveys, research or data analytics for company or industry exercises and studies, to design, review or improve our products and services;
• Managing your records, including backing up and/or destruction of personal data;
• Providing general information on product enhancements and services, which are relevant to your needs or policies (including increasing benefits, adding riders/supplements and/or insured lives);
• Providing and managing loyalty privileges and rewards program;
• Facilitating follow-up communication, processing, handling and responding to your queries, complaints, feedback, suggestions and requests;
• Providing and managing your access to our online services (whether presented on a website, platform or in mobile application, and whether accessed via a computer or a mobile device), including the administration of user accounts and login credentials;
• Verifying your identity and any information you provide to us;
• Conducting market research and customer satisfaction surveys;
• Managing and facilitating your relationship with your financial adviser or financial adviser representative; and
• Monitoring or recording your communications with us for training and quality control.
Compliance with laws and regulations
• Complying with applicable laws, regulations, rules, guidelines, schemes, undertakings or directions imposed by any regulator, government body, statutory body, law enforcement agency, industry body or dispute resolution body;
• Conducting compliance monitoring and audit reviews and/or risk management procedures put in place by Singlife and/or the industry;
• Conducting screenings and due diligence checks as may be required under applicable law;
• Investigating fraud, misconduct, any unlawful action or omission, whether relating to your policy, your claims or any other matter relating to your policy, and whether or not there is any suspicion of the aforementioned; and
• Enforcing obligations owed to us or seeking professional advice (including legal advice).
Campaigns and promotional activities
• Providing you with information on our products and services, offers, promotions, events or activities that you may be interested in, subject to marketing consent that you have provided; and
• Organising marketing and promotional events including administering contests, lucky draws and competitions.
Automated decision making
• Conducting data analytics, including profiling and behavioural analysis, to make automated decisions in our business operations and to evaluate your personal characteristics to predict outcomes and risks; and
• Improving our communication with you and your experience with us, making business operational and recruitment processes safer and more efficient and enabling us to provide faster responses and improve turnaround time.
Use of cookies
• Analysing your preferences and ensuring that the content, services and advertising we offer on our website, mobile applications, platforms and/or portals are tailored to your needs and interests.

Managing security of our premises
• Issuing and managing access to our premises;
• Maintaining a record of visitors; and
• Use of CCTV surveillance at our premises.
Recruitment activities
• Contacting and communicating with you regarding your application for a job/role with us;
• Reviewing and processing your application;
• Verifying your identity and accuracy of your personal data provided to us;
• Assessing your skills and qualifications, and evaluating your suitability for the job/role you have applied for;
• Conducting pre-employment psychometric tests, background and reference checks;
• Administration of your employment, if successful;
• Notifying you of future job opportunities;
• Updating you on our latest projects and initiatives; and
• Gathering insights to improve our recruitment and applicant screening process.
Other related purpose
• Any other purposes that are reasonably related to the purposes stated above.

To conduct our business operations smoothly, we may disclose your personal data to third parties located in Singapore or elsewhere. Such third parties will process your personal data either on our behalf, or otherwise for one or more of the Purposes.
We respect the confidentiality of your personal data, and we will not disclose your personal data to third parties without first obtaining your consent unless we are allowed to disclose your personal data without your consent under the PDPA or other laws.
Where the third parties are located overseas, we may be required to transfer your personal data outside Singapore. If this happens, we will limit the disclosure of your personal data only to what is needed for the Purposes and ensure that the receiving third parties are bound by laws or contractual obligations to protect your personal data to a standard comparable to the PDPA.
If you are visiting this website from outside Singapore, your visit will necessarily involve the transfer of information across international borders. By visiting this website and communicating with us electronically, you are consenting to these transfers.
We strive to make our products and services available to you and aim to accommodate your requests and instructions whenever possible. However, we may not be able to provide any products or services to you should you choose not to give us consent to use personal data that is necessary for us to provide our products and services.
Singlife may disclose your personal data to the following parties for the Purposes:
• Singlife related group of companies;
• third party service providers and their sub-contractors;
• medical institutions, insurers, reinsurers, credit agencies, dispute resolution bodies or investigators;
• your broker, financial adviser or representatives (including any new intermediary appointed by you or the company);
• financial institutions such as banks, credit card companies and fund managers;
• any law enforcement agency, government agency including statutory board and regulatory body, and industry body;
• our professional advisers such as legal counsel, auditors, consultants, and accountants; and
• third parties whom you have consented for us to share your personal data with, such as your beneficiaries or secondary lives assured.
Singlife and its officers, agents and representatives shall not be liable for any loss or damage that you or any user suffer as a result of any such disclosure of personal data, to which you have consented to Singlife or any of its officers, agents or representatives disclosing.
When you provide personal data of a third party, including but not limited to personal data of your spouse, child, parent, beneficiary, life assured, joint policyholder or referrer, you represent, warrant and undertake that:
• you have obtained the consent from the individuals to allow you to disclose their personal data to Singlife and for Singlife to collect, use, disclose and process their personal data for the Purposes;
• all personal data of the individuals that you provide to Singlife are accurate and complete;
• you will notify Singlife in writing as soon as you become aware that any individual’s personal data has been updated or is no longer accurate; and
• you will notify Singlife in writing as soon as practicable if you become aware that any individual whose personal data you have provided has partially or fully withdrawn consent. Upon receipt of such notice, Singlife reserves the right to discontinue or cease providing any products or services to, or transacting any business with, you that requires such individual’s personal data.
If you consent to the use of your personal data for marketing purposes, Singlife, its related group of companies and their service providers may contact you to inform you about Singlife and Singlife related group of companies’ products or services, special offers or other information which may be of interest to you.
You can update your preference anytime on MySinglife Portal (https://mysinglife.singlife.com/account/login) or dollarDEX Platform (https://www.dollardex.com/sgn/?current=signIn/) if you are a Singlife customer; or via Singlife App or simply by contacting us.
If you opt out from receiving marketing messages, you will continue to receive communications relating to follow up, servicing and other updates relating to your application, accounts, covers or policies.
You may withdraw your consent allowing us to collect, use, or disclose your personal data in our possession or under our control by contacting us.
Ask to withdraw marketing consent
• If you withdraw your consent for your personal data to be used for marketing purposes, we will process your request and will thereafter cease to use or disclose your personal data for marketing purposes:
- within 21 calendar days of your request to withdraw marketing consent for call and messages on any messaging platform (including SMS); or
- within 30 calendar days of your request to withdraw marketing consent for mail, email and push notification.
• Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect our ability to provide you with the products and services that you asked for or have with us.
Ask to withdraw consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal data for administration and servicing
• If you withdraw your consent for your personal data to be used for your insurance or account matters (for example matters relating to the servicing and administration of your insurance cover, policy or account), we will not be able to:
- process, administer and/or manage your relationship, cover, policy and/or account with us,
- provide you with products and services that you asked for or have with us (including keeping your insurance cover in force or properly assessing and processing your claim), or
- nor continue with your relationship with us.
• To proceed with such withdrawal, you will be required to surrender or terminate all your covers, policies or accounts with Singlife. This may be disadvantageous to you, as you may lose valuable benefits from the cover/policy and it may not be possible for you to get a similar level of protection on the same terms thereafter.
Please note that the withdrawal of your consent does not affect our right to continue to collect, use, disclose and process your personal data where such collection, use, disclosure and processing without your consent is permitted, or required, under applicable laws.
• Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal data is accurate, complete and up-to-date, if your personal data is likely to be used by Singlife to make a decision that affects you or disclosed to another organisation.
This means that you must also keep us updated about any changes in your personal data that you initially provided to us. We will not be responsible for relying on inaccurate or incomplete personal data if you do not notify us of the changes.
• Protection
We have reasonable security arrangements in place to ensure that your personal data is adequately protected and secured. Appropriate security arrangements will be made to prevent any unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, leakage, loss, damage and/or alteration of your personal data.
However, we cannot assume responsibility for any unauthorised use of your personal data by third parties due to factors beyond our control.
• Retention
We ensure that your personal data in our possession or under our control is destroyed and/or anonymised as soon as it is reasonable to assume that the purpose(s) for which that personal data was collected is no longer being served by the retention of such personal data and retention of such personal data is no longer necessary for any other legal or business purposes.
You may ask for access to or correction of your personal data currently in our possession or under our control by contacting us.
Access Requests
• We may charge a reasonable fee to handle and process your request to access your personal data.
• We will provide you with the relevant personal data within 30 calendar days from when we received your request or upon receipt of the fee, where applicable.
• If we are unable to respond to your request within this period, we will inform you within the 30 calendar days on when we will be able to respond to your request.
Correction Requests
• We will correct your personal data as soon as practicable after the request has been made unless we have reasonable grounds not to do so.
• We will send the corrected personal data to every other organisation to which the personal data was disclosed by Singlife within a year before the date the correction was made, unless that other organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose; or
• If you so consent, we will send the corrected personal data only to specific organisations to which the personal data was disclosed by us within a year before the date the correction was made.
